Best Videos of 2010 (Nos. 40-31)

40.  Xiu Xiu - This Too Shall Pass (For Freddy)

Crudely animated 8-bit clip that perfectly captures the essence of the song, a critique of our society where the desire for better forms of electronic communication seem to make us even more isolated as human beings.
39.  Miike Snow - The Rabbit

Not sure what this video has to do with the song at all, or why anyone would want to re-create a 2-Live Crew album cover, but sometimes things are better when they are unexplained, and you can just sit back and enjoy the craziness.
38.  Mumdance featuring Esser - Don't Forget Me Now

Completely inventive clip featuring bizarre uses of fruit and vegetables that is half engrossing and half just gross.  Kicking track too!
37.  Local Natives - Wide Eyes

Land shark!
36.  The Black Keys - Next Girl

I will admit I don't even like this song very much, but the video is so clever and fun I can't help but like it.
35.  M.I.A. - Born Free

NSFW controversial and violent video from M.I.A. which appears to be a commentary on nations, such as the U.S., who have a do as we say not as we do attitude when it comes to military acts of aggression.
34.  El-P - Time Won't Tell

Another video that subverted my expectations.  We get so used to stereotypical portrayals of people that we are almost ingrained to have the same reaction; however, just as you think this video is going down that path, it switches things and puts a smile on your face.
33.  Junip - Always

Again, this song and band are not my usual cup of tea, but the video is so proudly bizarre I had to put it on my list.
32.  Cassius - I Love You So

Imaginative video featuring interesting uses of iPhones.
31.  Esben and the Witch - Marching Song

Disturbing video that gets more and more difficult to watch as it progresses.
