The title track from the legendary singer's 10th record is a swirl of bass clarinets and intense, harsh gabba techno beats. Her voice increasing in intensity into a full-on storm. Stunning.

MOTHERMARY - "Resurrection"

Identical twins Elyse and Larena Winn make up the electropop duo MOTHERMARY. Their debut album I Am Your God delves into their escape from a repressive religious family. "Resurrection" is one of my favorite tracks on the album, with its dark electronics and the sisters' breathy vocals.

Vandal Moon - "Kiss Me Goodbye"

Vandal Moon's new album Queen of the Night is full of great dark, gothy synthpop bangers. "Kiss Me Goodbye" is a stellar example, with kicking drums, a pulsing bassline, and menacing keyboards. 

The Soft Moon - "Answers"

Pummeling aggro-industrial track from The Soft Moon that sounds like Broken-era Nine Inch Nails.

LEATHERS - "Ultraviolet"

LEATHERS, the project of Shannon Hemmetts, has teased a track from an upcoming album to be released in 2023. It's a super catchy darkwave synthpop number.

Blaqk Audio - "Sharp Teeth"

Blaqk Audio, the synthpop duo comprised of AFI members Davey Havok and Jade Puget, has just released their new album Trop D'Amour which is the best Depeche Mode album in years. Great songwriting and intricate arrangements are in full effect. "Sharp Teeth" is especially effective. 

The London Suede - "Shadow Self"

The London Suede returns with their ninth album, the stunning Autofiction, that finds the band amping up the drama and glam. "Shadow Self" is a spiky roar of guitars and Brett Anderson's still-powerful voice. 

Fred Again.. - "Danielle (smile on my face)"

DJ/Producer Fred Again.. returns next month with the latest in his series Actual Life, Actual Life 3 (January 1 - September 9, 2022). The first single is the propulsive "Danielle (smile on my face)" that samples 070 Shake's "Nice To Have." 

Death Cab For Cutie - "Asphalt Meadows"

The title track from Death Cab For Cutie's latest record is one of their best songs, with a driving beat and wonderfully evocative lyrics.

After a 6 year absence, Santigold returns with her new album, the excellent Spirituals. "Fall First" is a ferocious rocker.

Sudan Archives - "Freakalizer"

Sudan Archives' latest album Natural Brown Prom Queen effortlessly moves between a variety of genres. "Freakalizer" is a dip into some slinky Miami bass with crisp beats, jeep rattling bass, and plaintive piano chords.

George Fitzgerald ft. Panda Bear - "Passed Tense"

From his excellent new album Stellar Drifting, George Fitzgerald teams up with Animal Collective's Panda Bear on the swooning "Passed Tense" which pairs lush synths with Panda Bear's hypnotic vocals. 

Placebo - "Shout (Tears For Fears Cover)"
