Jam of the Day: Shey Baba - "Requiem"

Moving ballad from singer, song-writer Shey Baba, that is about mourning the past, but moving on from it.

"Time only haunts you once
Pause, and then it will restart
It's a pain I've been holding for years
And now that my moment's come
All disappear inside

It's the truth I've been holding for years
And this is my requiem to the old world
Fading, you're fading
You don't have to be who you are anymore"

From her upcoming solo record Adult Baby, Kazu Makino (lead singer of Blonde Redhead) releases the mesmerizing, pointillistic track "Salty." For the song she enlisted the help of legendary Japanese composer/producer Ryuichi Sakamoto, Atoms For Peace percussionist Mauro Refosco, and Son Lux drummer Ian Chang. It's impossible not to be captivated by the minimalist electronics.

Jam of the Day: bülow - "Wake Up"

2019 is looking to be the year of teenage pop gold. Following on the heals of Billie Eilish's debut album, 19 year old Canadian singer bülow has just released her solid EP called Crystalline. "Wake Up" is a super catchy pop song about a girl wanting her boyfriend to grow up and face responsibilities with maturity. If you like Lorde and Billie Eilish, you will certainly love bülow.

Jam of the Day: Kehlani ft. Ty Dolla $ign - "Nights Like This (Jay Pryor Remix)"

Jay Pryor gives this Kehlani track a euphoric dance floor sheen, masking the rather sad lyrics about a dissolved relationship. Regardless, it is a killer track.

Jam of the Day: Hatchie - "Stay With Me"

If Robyn, Cocteau Twins, and The Sundays got together and wrote a "crying alone in the club" song, they would probably sound like this excellent track from Aussie singer-songwriter Hatchie. It is from her upcoming debut album called Keepsake.

Jam of the Day: KÁRYYN - "YAJNA"

If you are a fan of Fever Ray, The Knife, Kate Bush, and Bjork, you will love the work of Syrian-American producer KÁRYYN. Her debut album The Quanta Series is brilliantly executed. I am particularly drawn to the epic track "YAJNA," which slowly gathers force and strength over its 7 minute run time.

Jam of the Day: Billie Eilish - "ilomilo"

Seventeen year old pop sensation Billie Eilish just released When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and it is a self-assured goth-pop collection of tracks that we will likely be hearing all year long. I keep being drawn in to the song "ilomilo," with its pitter-pat drum programming, dreamland xylophone keyboards, odd synth patterns that creep around the outside of the mix, and of course, Billie's detached, teenage vocals.
