Little Boots' excellent new record Tomorrow's Yesterdays is a frothy, fun disco/electro-pop fantasia. If you loved the last records from Jessie Ware, Dua Lipa, and Roisin Murphy, you will dig this record. "Want You Back?" is a song about the push and pull between staying in a rut or following your own path.

LP Giobbi ft. Little Boots - "Meet Again"

Great, euphoric house track with an uplifting message of hope during these rough times. We will all meet on the dancefloor again.

Jam of the Day: Little Boots - "Jump"

The criminally underrated UK singer/producer returns with her new EP called Jump. The title track is an ode to taking a leap of faith.

20. Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle

This record really blew me away this year. As intimate as it possibly can be, Sprained Ankle is wry, witty, and full of raw emotion. You sense she has lived deeply inside these songs, inhabiting them like a second skin.

19. Beach House - Thank Your Lucky Stars

Beach House surprised everyone with two albums and they couldn't be any more different. Depression Cherry, to me, was a droning, one note, beige mess of songs that made me feel that Beach House had lost their mind. Thank Your Lucky Stars feels like a mea culpa, and a welcome return to form.

18. Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool

This record throws together alt-rock, indie pop, shoegaze, Britpop, and a hundred other genres together in a mix that shouldn't work, but just keeps finding ways to creep back into your psyche.

17. Everything Everything - Get To Heaven

As I mentioned in my top songs countdown, Everything Everything are weird. Very weird. When I play this record for others, I get lots of head scratching. You either get them or you don't. I, for one, am very glad I get them.

16. Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late

If You're Reading This It's Too Late, is a dark, insular record that has no real "singles," but collectively shows Drake at the height of his powers.

15. Years & Years - Communion

Perfect blend of pop smarts, R&B sass, and dance floor power.

13. Young Galaxy - Falsework

The quirky Canadians once again work with producer Dan Lissvik, creating a sublime selection of arty synthpop.

12. Little Boots - Working Girl

While probably too arch and distant to be fully embraced by Top 40 radio, Little Boots' record Working Girl is one of the most hook filled alnbum recent memory. She is a jewel just waiting to be discovered.

11. Jamie xx - In Colour

Eclectic and thoroughly entertaining collection of tracks that hit on almost all of Jamie xx's influences.

Some songs just sound like instant classics. This is one of them.

Icy, cold, and perfectly delicious, the title track from Little Boots' album was a standout track on a brilliant record. The bass line alone makes me ache.

6. CHVRCHES - "Clearest Blue"



When everything kicks into full gear at the 2:13 mark, I dare you, no, I double dare you, not to shake your ass.

5. Selena Gomez - "Perfect"



The best ballad of the year. Lives up to its title.

4. Sufjan Stevens - "Fourth of July"



This song completely breaks my heart.

3. V V Brown - "Lazarus"



One of the weirdest singles I heard all year, but one I couldn't get out of my head. That voice on the chorus. Stunning.

2. Grimes - "California"



Grimes' album Art Angels has so many brilliant singles, I could almost just put the entire record on here and would be happy with my choices. "California" is probably the simplest track on the record, but just seemed to resonate the most for me. I moved to California this year, and it has been a great experience so far, but has also been a very challenging move for a variety of reasons. While "California, you only like me when I am looking sad," I take on your challenge and will be moving forward.

1. HEALTH - "Dark Enough"



HEALTH perfectly merged their experimental side with their pop leanings on their record Death Magic. "Dark Enough" is their shining moment, and my favorite song of the year.

Big news for Andrew and me. We are moving to San Francisco in August. Andrew landed a new job and I will transfer to my firm's SF office.

We lucked out and found a wonderful apartment in Duboce Triangle.

While we will miss Atlanta, we are looking forward to new adventures out on the west coast.

Our loft went on the market last Friday and was under contract by Tuesday. I am very pleased with the outcome.

It's going to be a different experience living in a blue state.

A lot of people have asked us why we are moving, especially considering how expensive San Francisco is. This is my answer. I fell in love with SF the first time I ever visited it, and every subsequent visit just expands that love. Yes, I know it is expensive, but it has always been a dream of mine to live there. I have never really taken any huge risks in my life and now I have that chance. I don't want to wake up 20 years from now and say, "I really wish I had moved when I had the chance." I have that chance now, and I am going to take it, whether it works out or not.

Love this.  And I agree, you go to heaven for the weather, and hell for the company.

We leave Friday for Bear Week in Provincetown. This vacation is much needed. Can't wait to see all of our friends from around the country and the world.

If you tell me you don't talk on the phone, text, or email, you are basically telling me that I have to be the one to do all the work in the friendship. That isn't friendship. Friendship requires some effort on your part.

I like Bernie Sanders and I think he has some really good ideas, however, polls show he has absolutely no sway or pull with minority voters so his realistic chances at becoming president are close to nil. I will stick with Hillary, thanks.
