I've always enjoyed London duo Alpines' trip-hop/downtempo tracks, but there always seemed to be one thing missing to really make me love them. If the first single from their new album is any indication of their new direction, then I think they have found that missing element. The music has gotten darker, deeper, and fuller, finally matching singer Catherine Pockson’s massive voice.
