This will likely be my last decade list for quite awhile. I could do the 1970s, but I really wasn't properly old enough to be coherent as to what music I actually liked. The 1980s on the other hand, is my decade. It is where I figured out what kind of music I liked and have liked ever since. I was lucky to have worked at two great record stores in high school and to have attended the University of Georgia at Athens, which was the college music mecca back in the 1980s. Thus, as you can tell, the list is quite long. And I could have easily made it longer. 200 seems to be a good number and the songs are limited to one per artist. Otherwise the list could have easily been about 10,000 songs long.
Due to the length, the posts will go on through Thursday when I will reveal my top 50 songs. I have tried to find clips of each song on Youtube, but due to the relative obscurity of some of the songs and artists, some may not be available.
