Black Coffee & DJ Angelo ft. Jinadu - "Lost"

From his excellent downtempo record Subconsciously, South African producer Black Coffee teams up with DJ Angelo and the luscious vocals of Jinadu for the pulsating track "Lost." 

Bad Bunny and Rosalía - "LA NOCHE DE ANOCHE"

Gorgeous down-tempo reggaeton track from Bad Bunny and Rosalía about impossible love. It's a wonderful collaboration that highlights their natural chemistry.

 

The Horrors - "Lout"

 The Horrors return from a 4-year absence with the title track to their upcoming EP. After moving from their Cramps-like debut sound to a more nuanced shoegaze sound, the band is back with a more hyper-aggressive take on 90's industrial-like Ministry and KMFDM sound. "Lout" is nightmarish and brutal.  I'm ready for more.

SG Lewis ft. Nile Rodgers - "One More"

SG Lewis' debut album Times is another nu-disco masterpiece in the vein of Jessie Ware's What's Your Pleasure, Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia, and Roisin Murphy's Roisin Machine. He teams up with the legendary Nile Rodgers on the guitar-focused "One More." It's impossible to not dance to this song.

 

Iceage - "Vendetta"

Danish post-punk band Iceage returns this year with its new album Seek Shelter that was produced by Spaceman 3's Sonic Boom. "Vendetta" finds the band moving in a new direction, with the use of synthesizers and a more atmospheric sound. This song, along with "The Holding Hand" shows an exciting new chapter for this always intriguing band.

Dua Lipa ft. JID - "Not My Problem"

 Killer breakup/diss track from Dua Lipa's Moonlight Edition of her fantastic record Future Nostalgia. 

Ejeca ft. Kele - "Won't Give Up"

 Belfast producer Ejeca teams up with Bloc Party's Kele for this uplifting 90s rave-themed track.

Mint Julip - "Black Maps"

 

Hollie and Keith Kenniff, the husband and wife duo known as Mint Julip, are set to release their latest record In A Deep And Dreamless Sleep in March. Our first taste of the record is the dream-pop track "Black Maps" which floats hazy vocals over pillowy synths and pulsating beats.

Cherry Glazerr - "Big Bang"

LA trio Cherry Glazerr returns with a new single called "Big Bang" that shows the band adopting a more mature sound focusing on more dramatic production. The song is both a breakup song but also a euphoric one, with singer Clementine Creavy growing stronger and stronger.

Julien Baker ft. Lucy Dacus & Phoebe Bridgers - "Favor"

 

The amazingly talented singer-songwriter Julien Baker returns with her boygenius cohorts Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers for "Favor," a stark but lovely rumination on friendship and mending broken trust. It will appear on her new album Little Oblivions which comes out on February 26th.

CHAI - "ACTION"

 Japanese avant-pop group CHAI are about to release their third record and are teasing it with the bubbly electro-house track "ACTION." It's a song they made in reaction to the Black Lives Matter protests and is a positive song about keeping the movement going. It's also a really fun track.

REZZ ft. PVRIS - "Sacrificial"

 Canadian DJ REZZ teams up with PVRIS for this darkly intoxicating EDM collaboration. Lynn Gunn's hypnotic vocals pair perfectly with REZZ's production.

Martin Garrix ft. Tove Lo - "Pressure"

 Dutch producer Martin Garrix and Swedish songstress Tove Lo kill it with their first collaboration, the slinky, sultry, thumping club track "Pressure." They need to collaborate more.

Madlib - "Loose Goose"

 

From his excellent new record Sound Ancestors produced by Four Tet, "Loose Goose" is a shape-shifting track that starts with boom-bap production and Snoop Dogg samples, then to a dancehall rave out, on to a fiunk/R&B interlude, and back to the beginning again. It's a masterful production.

Arlo Parks - "For Violet"

 Poet/Singer-songwriter Arlo Parks just released her debut record, the chill Collapsed In Sunbeams. "For Violet" has a darker vibe, recounting the tale of a college friend who is likely being abused by her father. Arlo's delicate vocals swirl around the languorous beats and a foreboding, rumbling Massive Attack-like bassline.

SOPHIE - "UNSILL"

 Prior to SOPHIE's tragic, untimely death, SOPHIE released an Autechre remix of the classic single "BIPP." The B-Side, from the sessions of 2015's compilation PRODUCT, is the stunningly futuristic "UNSILL" that still sounds like nothing out there today. SOPHIE's music was so influential that we will be feeling the impact for decades to come.

Goat Girl - "The Crack"

 UK post-punk four-piece Goat Girl return with their brilliant second record On All Fours. "The Crack" is a rollicking guitar-based track that adds some twinkling synths and some cowbell. It's paired with a super surreal video.
