Whew, Friday is finally upon us! Daylight Savings time is this weekend, and hopefully with the warmer weather coming it means Spring will finally take root for good. Here are the latest videos making my buds bloom.
Completely offputting and creepy video from electro-duo Ratatat. You'll never look at smiling people the same way again.
Desolate owes a little too much to Burial. In fact, without knowing who you were listening to, I am sure you would not be alone in thinking you had come across some song sketches. When the awareness sets in that you are not listening to Burial, it is still very pleasant, and at times, pretty great, music. I just wish he had a little more originality in his songs.
Kick ass acid house/grime single from Terror Danjah.
The Joy Formidable are a Welsh trio making some kick ass power/dream/Brit pop. Their sound is not completely there yet, but I anticipate great things from them. This is one of my favorite singles from them.
I love Adele's voice, but I am just not sold on her backing music. It becomes a little too samey to me. Reminds me of mid-period Everything But The Girl, before they went drum and bass, when their albums floated by almost on ether. For me, if Adele wants to be at the top of her game she needs to be more adventurous, as evidenced by this awesome remix from Jamie Smith of The xx.
Twin Shadow is another act I am dying to see at Coachella this year.
Killer dubstep track from another Coachella act Skrillex. Track has some deep wubz.
The highlight of Coachella last year, a killer, batshit crazy set from Major Lazer (aka Diplo and Switch).
Very surreal clip from the art poppers.
Although they are playing Coachella again this year, I will not be seeing Sleigh Bells. I have seen them twice and their live act is just not something I enjoy. It is basically high-tech karaoke. I love the band though, and hope that once this tour is over, they actually come back with more of band, in order to make the live experience be more immediate.
Sleek drum and bass from Breakage.
