Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "GREY RUBBLE - GREEN SHOOTS"

Post-rock legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor will release their latest album NO​ ​TITLE AS OF 13 FEBRUARY 2024 28​,​340 DEAD in October. The first preview of the record is the rumbling seven-minute song "GREY RUBBLE - GREEN SHOOTS."

Bryan Ferry ft. Amelia Barratt - "Star"

 
Bryan Ferry's first brand new music in 10 years is a track that began as a sketch from NIN's Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. This collaboration with Amelia Barratt will feature in Ferry's upcoming Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023. It's a minimal, pulsating song that sounds exactly what a Bryan Ferry/NIN collaboration should sound like.

The Smile - "Zero Sum"

The Smile announced the release of their second album of 2024 Cutouts, which is set to drop in October. The track "Zero Sum" is a hyperactive guitar workout.

 

The Bug - "Buried (Your Life Is Short)"

UK producer The Bug unleashes his first new music in a while with the bracing "Buried (Your Life Is Short)" which features metallic, industrial percussion awash with menacing, air raid siren synths. 

London Grammar - "Into Gold"

London Grammar returns next month with its new album The Greatest Love. "Into Gold" is a slow-burning ballad about heartbreak and loss. 

SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE - "1/500"

Philly art-pop punks SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE's new record YOU'LL HAVE TO LOSE SOMETHING is a true sonic wonder and one of the year's best albums. Individually, the 12 songs are stylistically all over the map but collectively gel into something sublime. I love the moments of quiet tenderness, like the pastoral, meditative "1/500." It's achingly beautiful.

ANIMA! - "Personal"

Indie electronic duo ANIMA! goes for maximalist pop a la Sylvan Esso on this infectious track. 

Clinic Stars - "Only Hinting"

Detroit slowcore/dream pop duo Clinic Stars offers the delicate title track to their upcoming debut album. It's an atmospheric Lush-like reverie.

Cold Cave - "Siren Song"

Darkwave/Goth duo Cold Cave releases another teaser from their upcoming album Passion Depression. "Siren Song" is a gothier version of New Order's "Blue Monday" mixed with The Cure's "The Walk" and I am here for it. 

Confidence Man - "Let Them Bells Ring"

Aussie duo Confidence Man hit the dance floor with "Let Them Bells Ring" throwing down acid house squelches, ravey rhythms, and Orbital-like chimes.

 

trauma ray - "Bishop"

Forth Worth metalgaze band trauma ray's debut album Chameleon will be out at the end of October. The lead single "Bishop" is an avalanche of raging guitars and buried My Bloody Valentine-esque vocals. 

Molchat Doma - "Ty Zhe Ne Znaesh Kto Ya"

Post-punk, synthpop trio Molchat Doma dial up the BPMs on their new track "Ty Zhe Ne Znaesh Kto Ya" with a distinct Nitzer Ebb EBM feel.

Belong - "Bleach"

New Orleans drone-pop duo Belong returns after 13 years with the excellent new album Realistic IX, leaning more into My Bloody Valentine-esque shoegaze. Over a tinny, mechanistic drum machine beat, "Bleach" unleashes a roar of airplane engine guitars. 

GIFT - "Light Runner"

Brooklyn psych/dream pop band GIFT's latest single is the candy-colored confection called "Light Runner" with a distinct Chapterhouse/Primal Scream vibe. 

The Wolfgang Press - "Sad Surfer"

British post-punk band The Wolfgang Press, a stalwart of the influential 4AD label back in the 80s, returns with their first new material in over 29 years. From their upcoming album A 2nd Shape, "Sad Surfer" features warped drum machines, washes of distorted guitars, and Michael Allen's trademark tortured vocals. 

Charli XCX ft. Billie Eilish - "Guess (Remix)"

Charli XCX and Billie Eilish get flirty and dirty on this sexy remix. 

Caribou - "Volume"

Dan Snaith (aka Caribou) recalls that his first exposure to electronic music was hearing M|A|R|R|S' "Pump Up The Volume" on Top 40 radio. M|A|R|R|S comprised artsy British bands AR Kane and Colourbox. In homage to this influence, he samples the classic track on his latest single "Volume," and turns it into a gut-rumbling dance floor killer. 

Porter Robinson - "Cheerleader"

Porter Robinson's latest record SMILE!:D is a hooky collection of Punk-Pop/Emo EDM. The first single "Cheerleader" is an excellent dive into the deep end.
