Yard Act - "Dream Job"

Yard Act announced the upcoming release of their second album titled Where's My Utopia? The first single is the Talking Heads/Gang of Four-esque robo-funk workout called "Dream Job." It's a dance floor filler. 

Mint Field - "Antes de Que Se Acabe el Año"

"Antes de Que Se Acabe el Año" is the atmospheric closing track to Mexican dream pop duo Mint Field's third album Aprender A Ser. Haunting, Warpaint-like harmonies flicker over pillowy synths and echoing drum machines.

Cupid & Psyche - "Serenity Pit"

Michael Vidal and Juan Velasquez, formerly of Abe Vigoda, have returned to making music as post-punk duo Cupid & Psyche. From their debut album Romantic Music, "Serenity Pit" is a lurching, Cure-esque brooder.

HEALTH - "Ashamed (Of Being Born)"

LA noise rockers HEALTH recently announced the upcoming release of their latest record titled Rat Wars. The third single from the album is the throbbing, menacing "Ashamed (Of Being Born)." 

ULTRA SUNN - "This Is Not About You"

"This Is Not About You," the new single from Belgian EBM/darkwave duo ULTRA SUNN, is a dark, thumping dance floor banger. 

Troye Sivan - "Can't Go Back, Baby"

Moving break-up song that features a haunting sample of Jessica Pratt's song "Back, Baby." The song is featured on Sivan's new album Something To Give Each Other.

Charli XCX ft. Sam Smith - "In The City"

It's Friday. I am in a good mood. And here is a fun dance track from Charli XCX and Sam Smith. 

IDLES ft. LCD Soundsystem - "DANCER"

Muscular post-punk meets dance-punk on this intriguing collaboration between IDLES and LCD Soundsystem. The track will be included on IDLES' upcoming album TANGK. 

Truth Club - "Exit Cycle"

Exciting indie rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina that sounds like the perfect mesh of Pavement and Sonic Youth. Their second album Running From The Chase was just released, and I am obsessed with the slow-burning track "Exit Cycle" with its intertwined guitars that slowly build to a dramatic ending of harmonized vocals.

 

Helena Deland - "The Animals"

On Helena Deland's new record Goodnight Summerland, she moves to a mostly soft, acoustic style, which suits her lovely, pillowy voice. "The Animals" is a breathtakingly gorgeous guitar and piano ballad that appears to be about a relationship being at a crossroads and wondering which road to take. I love the closing lyrics: "Nights like these I can't quite tell/A fear from a wish."

††† (Crosses) ft. Robert Smith - "Girls Float † Boys Cry"

††† (Crosses), the Deftones side project of Chino Moreno and Shaun Lopez, has just released their second album, Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete, which is a goth/synthpop dream come true. One of the many highlights is "Girls Float † Boys Cry," a dreamy collaboration with The Cure's Robert Smith.

The Drums ft. Rico Nasty - "Dying"

Surprisingly tender and delicate collaboration between The Drums and legendary Rico Nasty. It appears on The Drums' new record Jonny. 

 

Blonde Redhead - "If"

 

"If" is one of my favorite songs (of many) on the new Blonde Redhead album, Sit Down For Dinner. It's an atmospheric track that speaks of longing, self-reflection, and all that might have been.
