Just Mustard - "23"

One of my favorite bands, Clock Opera, has decided to call it quits. They are leaving us with the single "Locked In" with its martial rhythms, mantra-like vocals, and moody synths. The band will be sorely missed.

Letting Up Despite Great Faults - "Corners Pressed"

Austin-based shoegaze/dream-pop band Letting Up Despite Great Faults tries on some jangle-pop on the sunny and infectious track "Corners Pressed." It is on their new record IV. 

SCALPING - "Flashforward"

Bristol techno-rock band SCALPING just released their debut album Void. "Flashforward" is the moody centerpiece of the album, with cavernous drums, sinuous bass, and vaguely Middle Eastern-like guitars swirling around the dense rhythms. The futuristic video is killer as well.

Arcade Fire - "Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)"

From Arcade Fire's new record WE, "Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)" is a paranoid, jittery synthpop anthem, bursting with swirling keyboards and buzzy bass. 

Warpaint - "Hips"

After a 6-year absence, Warpaint returns with their new record Radiate Like This. "Hips" is a slinky, groovy, moody track that hits all of Warpaint's signature high points.  

Girlpool - "Country Star"

"Country Star," from Girlpool's fantastic new record Forgiveness, is a dense, synth-driven track that pulls you into the band's seductive world. 

Hatchie - "The Rhythm"

Hatchie's second album Giving The World Away is a fantastic record full of 90's alt-pop/dream-pop touchstones. "The Rhythm" is chock full of loping Madchester drums, groovy bass, fuzzy guitars, synth stabs, and house music piano rolls. Lots of fun.

 

Tove Lo - "No One Dies From Love"

Swedish pop goddess Tove Lo returns with the fantastic electropop single "No One Dies From Love." As she states, it is a song about heartbreak that you can dance to. It comes with a futuristic video where she falls in love with a robot.

Mykki Blanco ft Michael Stipe - "Family Ties"

Mykki Blanco and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe join forces on the powerful new song "Family Ties." The song was produced by FaltyDL.
