Carly Rae Jepsen - "Let's Sort The Whole Thing Out"

While everyone else is listening to the new Gaga record (which is a pretty decent return to her old dance roots) I am dancing around my apartment to this track. Bubbly, driving, and fun, it's a great track to get your weekend started.

Nation of Language - "The Wall & I"

Brooklyn synthpop band Nation of Language clearly wear all their influences on their sleeves, be it New Order, The Human League, Depeche Mode, or OMD. On "The Wall and I" from their debut Introduction, Presence, they are in full-on New Order mode with sweeping synths, melodic basslines, and a driving force.

Zola Blood - "Only You"

UK electronica quartet Zola Blood return with a four-track EP entitled Two Hearts. "Only You" is a gorgeous, melancholy mid-tempo track featuring their trademark lush synths and aching vocals.

I Break Horses - "Death Engine"

Swedish synth/dream-pop duo I Break Horses comes back from a long hiatus with their new record Warnings. "Death Engine" is an eight-minute meditation on the devastation of suicide. What starts out as a hopeless beginning to the song ends in hope with a rising swell of elegiac synth waves. It's a stunning track.

Warm Digits - "Frames and Cages"

UK duo Warm Digits throws down some Jesus Jones/EMF vibes on the instrumental first track off their new record Flight of Ideas.

Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande - "Rain On Me"

Yes, this is just a standard-issue club track, but it is fun and upbeat, and lord knows we need stuff like this now.

Psychedelic Furs - "No-One"/"Don't Believe"

Twenty-nine years is a long time between albums but new wave legends Psychedelic Furs are returning with a new album Made of Rain. Although it won't be officially released until the end of July they have teased a couple of tracks from the record. Normally, I would only post one song, but these two were impossible to choose between. Both are dark, moody guitar-driven tracks that show that Richard Butler's trademark gravelly voice is still in fine form.

Charli XCX - "pink diamond"

From her quarantine-inspired new album how i'm feeling now, "pink diamond" is a slamming track featuring the futuristic pop sound she is known for.

Kelly Lee Owens - "Night"

Kelly Lee Owens shares another song from her now delayed new record Inner Song (it was supposed to be released this month and is now set for an August release. "Night" starts out with gently pulsating and dreamy synths then kicks it into high gear with some sexy beats before drifting off into the ether. It's excellent.

Jockstrap - "The City"

The fun of a Jockstrap song is never quite knowing where you are going with it. The surreal UK pop duo teases its upcoming new EP with "The City." The first half of the song is an elegiac piano ode to lost romance and the haunting aftermath in a city. Just as you are pulled in to its sweet sadness, it lurches forward with clanking, squelching beats and squiggly synths and throws you into hyperdrive with a bizarre tale about a bear, a beaver, and a B-movie monster.

Hayley Williams ft. boygenius - "Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris"

Paramore singer Hayley Williams teams up with supergroup boygenius - Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus - for the quietly powerful centerpiece to her excellent solo debut Petals for Armor.

Everything Everything - "Arch Enemy"

UK art-rock quartet Everything Everything search for a meaningful god in this world and only find archaic squalor in this new track from their upcoming record Re-Animator.

Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) & Hayden Thorpe (ex-Wild Beasts) - "Unknown Song"

Joe Goddard and Hayden Thorpe team up for this joyful club-ready track about how even in lockdown we can find connection through music.

Drab Majesty - "No Rain (Blind Melon cover)"

Synthpop duo Drab Majesty cover the Blind Melon hit song and give it a Soft Cell-like twist.

Jesse Ware - "Save a Kiss"

Finally, Jesse Ware is embracing her dance diva side based on all the singles she's released in anticipation of her upcoming album What's Your Pleasure? On "Save a Kiss" she basks in the Donna Summer/Georgio Moroder bed of throbbing synths and swirling disco strings. It's pure heaven.

BLVTH ft. bülow - "I Don't Wanna Be"

Moody, atmospheric track about finding out who you are and blazing a solo trail.

Arca - "Nonbinary"

Intense new track from Arca, formerly known as Alejandra Ghersi, who now identifies as a Latinx trans woman. The song is about acknowledging that everyone has multiple facets of their personality but ultimately all those facets coalesce into a whole. The video is as groundbreaking as Bjork and Chris Cunningham's "All Is Full Of Love."

Surf Rock Is Dead - "Solid Ties"

From their solid debut album Existential Playboy, Brooklyn duo Surf Rock Is Dead presents the centerpiece of the record called "Solid Ties." Ironically it merges an updated surf rock sound with propulsive drums and bass and swirls it together with shoegaze flourishes.

Moby ft. Apollo Jane - "Too Much Change"

Probably Moby's best song in ages. A haunting rumination on what the world is going through, it pairs Apollo Jane's ghostly vocals over searing synth swells. The simple lyrics say all that need to be said, “What are we supposed to feel/What are we supposed to do?/There’s too much change.”

Aluna (of AlunaGeorge) - "Body Pump"

Aluna, one half the electronic/R&B duo AlunaGeorge, is set to release her debut solo record soon. She teases us with the high energy dance track "Body Pump."
