Jam of the Day: The Shins - "Heartworms (Flipped)"

I will admit that I was a little underwhelmed by The Shins' last album Heartworms, which came out early in 2017. It was a decent record, but just felt like James Mercer was spinning his wheels. So imagine my surprise when he announced that he would be releasing a "flipped" version of the album called The Worm's Heart, with slow songs turned into fast songs, and vice versa. Here, the title track went from a loping, country rock like track into this bouncy, synth driven sing-a-long. Here's hoping the flip version of the album is as inventive, off-the-cuff, and quite frankly, fun as this track.
