These days at work, I only look forward to when I can go home and not deal with it. I am starting to feel less like a person and more like a number.

I was recently told by my boss that I needed to be "on call" for this one client and project, and that this, going forward, would likely be how projects were staffed. I had to shake my head. I've been doing this work for over 7 years now and have never been on a project like this.

I have "liked" the new Chvrches tracks off their new record Every Open Eye, but have not "loved" them. I was worried what the actual record would sound like, however, it has turned out to be quite a fun, sparkly pop record.

Always.

Last week was one of those weeks the Universe reminded me that I am its bitch.

The pizza at Delfina was excellent.

Andrew and I had our first beach excursion in San Francisco at Marshall beach, which sits picturesquely next to the Golden Gate Bridge. Aside from it taking forever to get down to the beach itself, it was a lovely day and we had a lot of fun with some friends.

The bad news is BarBri, the bar review course I plan on taking, does not offer evening classes for the February bar exam. The good news, however, is that they offer the classes online and I can structure the lectures anytime I like, and can get started two weeks before the actual in-class lectures start.

Yes.

Folsom weekend starts tomorrow!!!

As an attorney, I have never had anyone truly mentor me. It has been quite frustrating over my career.

It always fascinates me how someone who is basically a 40 year old mean girl can still hold so much sway over so many people.

I know it would be wrong, but there is a partner in my firm I really want to call them an idiot to their face.

I have finally gotten back into a workout routine. I am still going early in the morning, which I like. The only bad thing is that it can be a little weird walking to the gym at that hour.

Your cute for the day.

Lyrics Rattling Around My Brain

"Light is all over us
Like it always was
Like it always was
Shaped, by the clearest blue
But it's not enough
It's not enough, not enough

Just another time I'm caught inside
Every open eye
Holding on tightly to the sides
Never quite learning why
You'll meet me, you'll meet me
You'll meet me halfway

Whenever I feel it coming on
You can be well aware
If ever I try to push away
You can just keep me there
So please say you'll meet me
Meet me halfway

Tied, to the shifting ground
Like it always was
Like it always was
You, were the perfect storm
But it's not enough, it's not enough
Not enough, not enough

Just another time that I go down
But you are keeping up
Holding to a hope you'll undermine
Never to be reversed

Just another time I'm caught inside
Every open eye
Holding on tightly to the sides
Never quite learning why

Whenever I feel it coming on
You can be well aware
If ever I try to push away
You can just keep me, tell me

Tell me tell me, you'll meet me
Tell me tell me, you'll keep me
Tell me tell me, you'll meet me
Will you meet me more than halfway up?

Shaped by, clearest blue
Shaped by, clearest blue

Shaped (will you keep it half-a-way)
By, clearest blue (will you keep it half-a-way)
Shaped (will you keep it half-a-way)
By, clearest blue (will you keep it half-a-way)."

Jam of the Day: Darkstar - "Stoke the Fire"

I am getting super excited about Darkstar's upcoming record Foam Island. All of the singles released from it so far are kicking it out of the park, and this track is no exception.

Videos of the Week

Happy Friday! Here are some killer videos from this week:

Father John Misty seduces himself in this clever clip.

Shamir pilots a UFO like object in this sunny clip.

Disclosure's dystopian trilogy ends with this sleek video.

Trippy and languid video for this gorgeous track from Deerhunter.

The new Empress Of album Me is fast becoming one of my favorite albums of the year. Here is an evocative clip for one of the standout tracks from the record.

Wow.

Last week was rather stressful from a career and financial standpoint. I'm still in a daze about it, and not quite sure how to process it.

There really is no need to like every single thing I post on FB. Seriously.

I will say, the thought of taking another Bar exam is starting to stress me out. I know in the end it will be fine, but it's such a stressful thing to go through.

I will say the moral character application in California was a lot easier to complete than Georgia's.

It would be nice one day to have a job that you can actually leave the office and not have to take it home with you.

Yes.

While living in the city can be a struggle, I am very glad that we are fortunate to have a washer and dryer. Almost makes up for no air conditioning :)

Sometimes the best thing in the world is coming home to someone who wants to see you.

I think it is pretty damn good that I registered online to take the CA bar exam, got my moral character application completed, and fingerprints taken care of, all in one day. Just waiting on my certificate of good standing to come from GA and I should be complete.

I wish I could get out of head sometimes.

Who knew? I like tabasco sauce on pizza.

I tried out the 24 Hour Fitness gym across the street from my office. From a convenience standpoint it is the logical choice for me to join, however, my experience there was so bad, I will not set foot in there again. The staff was rude and unhelpful, and the gym itself was a barely a starter gym. I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was there.

Checked out Fitness SF this week. After the horrible experience at 24 Hour Fitness, this was like walking through the pearly gates.

LOL.

I love San Francisco, but I do miss Atlanta.

Folsom is next weekend!!

I don't really miss driving all that much, but I do miss the convenience of it.

Do people still care what area code your phone number is?

Although it is nice having a grocery store a block from us, it is not a very good one. If the Murder Kroger in Atlanta has a better produce section than yours, you are doing something very wrong.

It's amazing the difference in my mood when the sun is out.

I passed a kidney stone the other day. No pain and no warning. If you ever have to pass one, make sure it is like that, the other ones are not so fun.

Hee hee.

I am not Julie McCoy for your sexcapades during Folsom.

If your Scruff pic looks like Ron Jeremy circa 1982, it is a pretty good chance I am not interested.

I haven't really worked out since we moved to San Francisco. After one workout this week, it is amazing at how sore I am.

"You're not lost if no one is looking for you."

Pasta is always so much better the next day.

The Kwabs album is some killer R&B.

Deep.

Just because we knew each other briefly in college doesn't mean I want to friend you on FB.

The only disappointing thing about moving to San Francisco so far is a few people we considered friends here that have had no interaction with us whatsoever.

Talking about how much money you make is tacky.

I seriously tried to watch the GOP debates with an open mind, however, it just felt like watching a high school debate. It disintegrated into name calling and personal attacks.

Atlanta drivers in the rain = San Francisco pedestrians in the rain.

I hate when my work wife is out of the office.

Your cute, and your zen, for the day.

Lyrics Rattling Around My Brain

"Christ, or credit?
What's the prize?
What's the edit?
I'm alive
I don't credit
A source
I just drive
And then the fog rolls in
And then they're bright..
My enemies
They're just trying..
Trying to kill me

Breaking the waves
I can't ignore (I tried)
The ocean is strong
I cannot stem the tide
Breaking the waves
I can't ignore (I tried)
I can't seem to stem
The tide no more (?)
I tried
I tried

Drive me to ?
I've got the time
And it's been too long
Since I've been
Driving all night
On the back road's winding
Under the stars
That are slowly dying
(oh no)

Breaking the waves
I can't ignore (I tried)
The ocean is strong
I cannot stem the tide
Breaking the waves
I can't ignore (I tried)
I can't seem to stem
The tide no more (?)
I tried
I tried.

Jack-knifed
On the side-street crossing
I'm still alive
(and that's something)
And when I die
There will be nothing....to say
Except I tried
Not to waste another day
Trying to stem the tide."

Deerhunter
"Breaker"

"I'm sorry if I seem uninterested
Or I'm not listenin', or I'm indifferent
Truly I ain't got no business here
But since my friends are here, I just came to kick it
But really I would rather be at home all by myself
Not in this room with people who don't even care about my well-being
I don't dance, don't ask, I don't need a boyfriend
So you can, go back, please enjoy your party
I'll be here
Somewhere in the corner
Under clouds of marijuana
With this boy who's hollering
I can hardly hear
Over this music I don't listen to
And I don't wanna get with you
So tell my friends that I'll be over here.

Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
Oh I asked myself, what am I doin' here?
Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here.

Excuse me if I seem a little unimpressed with this
An anti-social pessimist, but usually I don't mess with this
And I know you mean only the best and your
Intentions aren't to bother me
But honestly I'd rather be
Somewhere with my people
We can kick it and just listen to
Some music with a message, like we usually do
And we'll discuss our big dreams
How we plan to take over the planet
So pardon my manners
I hope you'll understand that I'll be here
Not there in the kitchen
With the girl who's always gossiping about her friends
So tell them I'll be here
Right next to the boy who's throwin' up
Cause he can't take what's in his cup no more
Oh God why am I here?

Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
Oh I asked myself, what am I doin' here?
Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here.

Hours later congregatin' next to the refrigerator
Some girl talkin' 'bout her haters, she ain't got none
How did it ever come to this? I shoulda never come to this
So holla at me, I'll be in the car when you're done
I'm stand-offish, don't want what you're offerin'
And I'm done talkin', awfully sad it had to be that way
So tell my people when they're ready that I'm ready
And I'm standin' by the TV with my beanie low
Yo I'll be over here.

Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
Oh I asked myself, what am I doin' here?
Oh-oh-oh here, oh-oh-oh here
And I can't wait 'til we can break up out of here"
